The Science Panel on Interactive Communication and Health 43 defines these tools of communication technology or interactive health communications IHC as the interaction of individuals consumer patient caregiver or professionals with or through an electronic device or communication technology to access or transmit health information or to receive guidance and support on a health related issue 43 p. 1264 . The convergence of rapidly developing scientific advances and IHC is changing the nature of contemporary health care experiences and health care communications. The accessibility of up-to-date medical information through the Internet adds another dimension to the consumer power held by women one which potentially fosters more active participation in health health care decisions and confidence in obtaining appropriate health care for themselves and their families 44 .
