Self‐reported
retrospective
symptomology
is
used
to
identify
health
effects
that
may
or
may
not
be
 associated
with
a
participant’s
presence
within
a
spill‐affected
community.
These
questions
are
 designed
to
evaluate
health
symptoms
that
individuals
may
attribute
to
environmental
exposures
to
 crude
oil
or
associated
emissions.
In
a
similar
manner
to
symptomology,
self‐reported
over‐the‐counter
 drug
use
yields
insight
into
the
future
study
of
environmental
exposures.
It
is
postulated
by
this
study
 that
self‐treatment
is
likely
the
method
of
choice
for
individuals
that
have
chronically
suffered
exposures
 to
environmental
toxics.
