During my experience of research for the last 25 years, I have felt the need for a text book written specifi cally for Design Engineers and Materials Scientists. Although there have been a number of excellent books written on the subject, they are now either out of date or fundamental in nature. There is a growing need to adopt advanced techniques / technologies to meet the ever increasing demand for high effi ciency in existing engines and to develop modern gas turbines for strategic and special applications
