The basic concepts of signals and systems arise in a variety of contexts, from engineering design to financial analysis. In this chapter, you will learn how to represent, manipulate, and analyze basic signals and systems in MATLAB. The first section of this chapter, Tutorial , covers some of the fundamental tools used to construct signals in MATLAB. This tutorial is meant to be a supplement to, but not a substitute for, the tutorials given in The Student Edition of MATLAB User's Guide and The MATLAB User's Guide. If you have not already done so, you are strongly encouraged to work through one of these two tutorials before.
