Professionalization of teachers of French as a foreign language at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia: A view on the complexity of an identify construction

The universities are responding to offers from French and French-speaking organizations and contribute to the professional development and to the professional and personal identities of the FLE teachers but are being introduced without prior consultation with the teacher. Dans le domaine de l’enseignement des langues, la formation initiale des enseignants de français langue étrangère (FLE) ne suffit pas à répondre aux exigences de ce métier en perpétuelle évolution. Les établissements universitaires répondent alors aux offres de formations des organismes français et francophones, contribuant ainsi au développement professionnel et à la construction de l’identité professionnelle, mais aussi personnelle, de l’enseignant de FLE, sans pour cela être le fruit d’une décision collective. L’engagement de l’enseignant dans cette démarche de professionnalisation prescrite dépendra donc de comment il perçoit le projet de l’établissement par rapport à son propre projet.
