Intraperitoneal (.) administration of petroleum ether and ethyl acetate soluble fractions of ethanol extract of the leaves of P. pellucida at a dose of 80 mg/kg body weight significantly reduced the elevated body temperature of rabbit. This antipyretic effect has been compared with antipyretic effect of standard aspirin and the solvent used. HBK (Fam. Piperaceae) yapraklar›n›n etanol ekstraktlar›n›n petrol eter ve etil asetatta çözünen fraksiyonlar›n›n antipiretik (atefl düflürücü) etkileri araflt›r›lm›flt›r. Kaynat›lm›fl sütün periton kesesi içine 0,5 ml/kg vücüt a¤›rl›¤› dozunda uygulanmas› albino tavflanlarda yüksek atefle neden olmaktad›r. P. pellucida yapraklar›n›n etanol ekstraktlar›n›n petrol eter ve etil asetatta çözünen fraksiyonlar›n›n periton kesesi içine 80 mg/kg vücüt a¤›rl›¤› dozunda uygulanmas› tavflan›n artm›fl olan vücüt s›cakl›¤›n› belirgin olarak düflürmüfltür. Bu atefl düflürücü etki standart aspirin ve kullan›lan çözücünün atefl düflürücü etkisi ile karfl›laflt›r›lm›flt›r.
