Pigeonpea, Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp is one of the important legume food crop of the semi-arid tropical and sub-tropical farming systems under varied agro-ecological environments. It is the second most important pulse crop of India after chickpea. India is the largest producer and also the largest consumer of pulses in the world.
