Groundnut is an important oil seed crop in India cultivated in an area of million hectares with a production of million tonnes annually. The crop can be grown successfully in areas receiving the rainfall ranging from 600 to 1250 mm. The best soils for groundnut crop are sandy loam, loam and medium black with good drainage system.
