Genetic variability, heritability and genetic advance in boro rice (Oryza sativa L.) germplasm

Fifty bororice genotypes were evaluated to estimate variability, heritability and genetic advance in yield and yield contributing characters at Directorate of Rice Research Farm, ICRISAT Campus, Patancheru, Hyderabad, during Rabi 2013-14. Analysis of variance indicated the existence of significant genotypic differences among the genotypes for the yield, its components for all the characters. High GCV and PCV values were observed for number of filled grains per panicle, number of unfilled grains per panicle, grain yield per plant. High heritability coupled with high genetic advance as per cent of mean was observed for plant height, number of tillers per plant, number of productive tillers per plant, number of filled grains per panicle, number of unfilled grains per panicle, 1000- grain weight and grain yield per plant which indicated that these traits were controlled by additive type of gene action. | Genetic variability heritability and genetic advance in boro rice Oryza sativa L. germplasm
