Customers that installed Exchange 2000 experienced a paradigm shift in the complexity of the underlying operating system. With Windows 2000 introducing several new concepts, installers were burdened with learning the differences in how Active Directory uses Domain Name System (DNS), Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), and a variety of new server roles for establishing suitable infrastructures for Exchange 2000.
