Türkiye’ye endemic olarak değerlendirilen türün, yakın akrabası olan Echinops phaeocephalus Hand.-Mazz. türünden morfolojik farklılıkları tartışıldı. Yeni tür için, Uluslararası Doğa Koruma Birliği (IUCN) tehdit kategorisi belirlendi ve ekolojik gözlemler not edilerek, coğrafik dağılımı harita üzerinde gösterildi.
