This paper reviews Vietnam’s implementation of fiscal policies in response to climate change. The impact of tax and fee policies on greenhouse gas emission reduction is insignificant. Public spending on climate change adaptation primarily focuses on infrastructure projects to enhance resilience capacity, while the budget for mitigation activities only constitutes a small proportion. In general, one can conclude that while progress has been made in the area of fiscal policies in response to climate change, a more proactive approach is needed to safeguard Vietnam’s environment and effectively cope with the new challenges of climate change. |
