During the more than one hundred years since the villa was excavated, the most notable pieces recovered from the excavation turned out to be the frescoes found in the villa's peristyle. Their provenance is seemingly unquestionable, because the excavation photographs show them in situ on the portico walls. They have also been in museum exhibitions worldwide, while the rest of the frescoes and statuary from this excavation have had very little exposure outside of their museum's galleries. .
