Urinary tract infections are one of the most common hospital-acquired infections, accounting to as many as 35% of nosocomial infections. In addition, UTIs are a leading cause of gram-negative sepsis in hospitalized patients. Early diagnosis and treatment of UTIs are essential in preventing urosepsis.
