Methods A cross-sectional study in 376 newborns under 7-day old. Results General disease structure early neonatal infection is the most common disease followed by jaundice with unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia and respiratory failure birth defects accounted for necrotizing enterocolitis accounted for and metabolic diseases accounted for the lowest percentage . Disease structure of each group of newborn Among full-term infants the disease that accounted for the highest proportion is jaundice with unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia followed by neonatal infection . Among premature babies neonatal infections accounted for the highest proportion followed by respiratory failure necrotizing enterocolitis accounts for and is only seen in preterm infants. Among the postterm infants the most common diseases were respiratory infections and jaundice with unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia . Conclusions Infection of the newborn jaundice with unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia are common diseases in newborns. Besides neonatal infections which are common in preterm infants and differ from those of the postterm group.
