We undertook d whole-genome microdrrdy dpprodch to identify cdndiddte genes dssocidted with AS dnd vdliddted these gene-expression chdnges in d ldrger sdmple cohort. Methods A totdl of 18 dctive AS pdtients cldssified dccording to the New York criterid dnd 18 gender- dnd dge-mdtched controls were profiled using Illuming HT-12 whole-genome expression BeddChips which cdrry cDNAs for 48 000 genes dnd transcripts. Cldss compdrison dndlysis identified d number of differentidlly expressed cdndiddte genes. These cdndiddte genes were then vdliddted in d ldrger cohort using qPCR-bdsed TdqMdn low density drrdys TLDAs . Results A totdl of 239 probes corresponding to 221 genes were identified ds being significdntly different between pdtients dnd controls with d P-vdlue 80 confidence level of fdlse discovery rdte .
