Earthworms were collected in four habitats natural forests long-term tree plantation short-term tree cultivation and shrush bushes from three topological types low mountains hills and plains. As a result a total of 24 earthworm species belonging to 7 genera 3 families were recorded from Dong Nai Province. Among them seven were recently described as new to science Polypheretima cattienensis P. militium P. cordata Metaphire mangophiloides M. malayanoides M. grandiverticulata and M. xuanlocensis. Taxonomic structure of earthworms in Dong Nai province is in accordance with the faunistic characteristics of Vietnam. Megascolecidae is the most abundant family with 22 recorded species. Of 24 species in this study Amynthas polychaetiferus M. campanulata and Pontoscolex corethrurus are three abundant species in the study area. Regarding the distribution pattern hilly area has the highest number of recorded species and diversity index 20 species and H . The area is considered to be a transition region between low mountain and plain in Dong Nai Province. This is the reason why hilly area have more recorded species than others. The diversity index of earthworms is decreasing from long-term tree plantation to bushes shrubs short-term tree cultivation and natural forests. Keywords Diversity distribution earthworms Dong
